Bentley Systems Empowers Sustainability in Cities through Digital Twin Expertise at the Smart City Expo World Congress 2022 in Barcelona

How Cities Achieve Sustainable Development Goals through Digital Transformation, Optimizing Urban Planning and Operation, Mobility, and Utilities

What:

Bentley Systems experts will present at Smart City Expo World Congress, the international leading event for cities. SCEWC is dedicated to empowering cities through collectivizing urban innovation, promoting social innovation, and identifying collaborative opportunities for a better future for cities and their citizens.

Around 70% of the world’s harmful emissions can be traced to infrastructure—through the carbon-heavy design, construction, and operational life of assets. Cities cover 2% of the world but consume 78% of the world’s energy and produce 60% of greenhouse gases. With over 10,000 cities in the world making commitments to reduce carbon emissions by 2050, this is no longer a future problem: it is a present project.

Bentley Systems will showcase the benefits of going digital during the Empowering Sustainability in Cities with Digital Twins sessions, including the use of digital twins, to reshape the way that cities are designed and operated. Using examples from innovative and award-winning infrastructure projects around the world, they will demonstrate how digital twins can help to connect data, systems, processes, and people to deliver the visibility needed to operate sustainable cities.

Who:

Hakan Engman, Bentley’s director of business development in the digital cities business unit.

Engman is leading business management activities for OpenCities products. He was responsible for integrating the Swedish company Agency9 after Bentley acquired it in September 2018. As the CEO of Agency9, Engman was instrumental in positioning Agency9 as a key player in web-based urban planning 3D applications for project communication and citizen dialogue. Before Agency9, Engman worked at IBM, BMC Software, Ericsson, and several startup companies in the mobile and media software market.
